Bell & Ross BR 03 Type A Patrouille de France

Aeronautic fans are going to dig this new limited timepiece from Bell & Ross. The French luxury watchmaker has just announced the new Bell & Ross BR 03 Type A Patrouille de France. The wristwatch is, as the product name suggests, designed and produced in close collaboration with one of the most prestigious aerobatic formations in the world, Patrouille de France.

Though the Bell & Ross BR 03 Type A Patrouille de France may appeal more to aeronautic enthusiasts than watch collectors, IMHO because it has a quartz movement in order to realize the dual analog and digital display. It may not be intended for the display shelf either because it has a high-drain battery good for 30 months.

Anyhoo, back to the dual analog and digital display… the timepiece has hours and minutes displayed with conventional hands while the seconds are displayed on a digital screen – a feature necessary in aerobatics where every second counts.

Moreover, this limited timepiece offers many additional functions closely tied to time mastery, and they include 1/100th of a second chronograph with immediate and additional time, and countdown, along with alarm, date, and dual time zone.

Only 100 copies of the Bell & Ross BR 03 Type A Patrouille de France will be produced, each going for US$4,400. Each pilot in the aerobatic unit will also be given one of these emblematic watches. Though it is not clear if that counts towards the limited run of 100 pieces.
