Projector for home has come a long way. Once it had washed out picture quality despised by even non-cinephiles (OK. Maybe it was just me) but now, 4K, high-contrast picture quality at a high refresh rate is somewhat a norm. In recent years, home projection technology has gone even further to compete for a slice of the gaming market.

That’s right, folks. In case you haven’t already heard, gaming projector is a thing now and the BenQ X3000i 4K HDR is one of the latest models to hit the market.

While the BenQ X3000i 4K HDR is totally capable of letting you play in eye-watering 4K60, you can only enjoy 120 Hz or 240 Hz high refresh rate with 8 and 4 ms response time, respectively, at 1080p. The technology has come this far but not that far yet.

But I suspect it will be a matter of time before the projector is capable of 4K60 with a high refresh rate and low latency. If you really want to go with 4K resolution, then you will have to put up with a 60 Hz refresh rate and 16 ms input lag.

Those are not exactly good numbers for fast gameplay, IMHO. You definitely don’t want to run at 4K when playing PUBG or Apex Legends.

The projector further touts HDR-PRO and Dynamic Black technology that delivers vivid contrast and realistic shadows, allowing fine points in blackness to be seen. At the same time, Balanced Adjustment Enhanced presents even more visibility in dark areas.
