From the handset maker that wants a smartphone to last at least four years is a new smartphone tailored for kids. Called Teracube Thrive, the phone is designed from the ground up to be “child-safe”.
It features built-in parental monitoring, app and time-based limits, safe contacts with spam protection, GPS location, social media limits, and more as standards out-of-the-box. It sets up in minutes with all the features to keep your child safe in this connected world.
You probably want to because according to some studies, as many as 41% of teens had negative experiences when using social networking sites and around 59% of children have been harassed online or cyberbullied. Those are just some of the issues modern children have to deal with – if their usage of the phone goes on without proper guidance. And guidance is something you can easily do with Teracube Thrive.
Plus, it looks like the phone has a somewhat rugged design which is perfect for its target age range of 8 to 17. In the event of accidental damage, the premium care warranty with free replacements will have you covered. If not, the device also has accidental repairs for as low as US$49 for 1st accident per year.
Kid-safe features aside, the phone has every basic you’d expect from a good phone. It is outfitted with an 8 MP selfie camera, dual rear-facing camera (13 MP + 8 MP), a MediaTek Helio A25 chip featuring a 1.8 GHz octacore processor, a large 6.1-inch HD+ IPS display, a 4,000 mAh replaceable battery, headphone jack et cetera.
Clearly, it is not a flagship device nor is it a 5G device but at just US$99 a pop, you can’t argue with the value. Though there is a catch. A subscription of US$9 a month is required. But there’s also a US$249 package where it does include a 2-year subscription.
However, whether it is 99 bucks + monthly sub or US$249 with a 2-year sub, the prices are only if you pre-order the device from a pre-sale campaign on Indiegogo.
It is NOT a crowdfunding campaign and so, if you make a pledge for a device during the campaign period, it is a pre-order that Teracube aims to fulfill in September 2022.
