Being a richie rich can be quite a pain. You can’t ride the luxe ride you love or zip city to city in your private jet without piling up on carbon footprint, but if you are a Bentley fan, you’d be glad that reprieve is almost here – thanks to the Bentley EXP 12 Speed 6e, luxury electric concept car that you’d be hard pressed not to take a second look. Without a doubt, it is gorgeous inside and out, but perhaps more importantly is, it is fully electric which means, instant torque at your disposal. Unfortunately, technical details is still a little muddy, or to be exact, there’s really none.
However, if you were at the Geneva Motor Show where it made its debut earlier this month, you probably picked up a few more details, but they won’t be enough to get a complete picture. What we do know at this point is, it will get rapid inductive charging, a high-performance electric drivetrain paired to a battery system that would afford 310 miles of range, and the design on it, inside and out, is pretty much the design direction the marque is taking. Speaking of design, the interior is, well, how do we say? Retro-futuristic. A steampunk-ish, if you will, and I attribute the feel to the generous use of copper throughout the car.
Interestingly, it has a U-shaped steering that reminisce of the control of an aircraft, or those found in certain generation of Batman’s batmobile. Why? Because this striking steering wheel has two buttons, one on each of the top of the cut-away steering wheel, that will give the car an instant boost in performance when activated – just like some Batman’s. And the button even has the appropriate illustration – a rocket, to put it out plainly what pressing it will do. Nice.
Anywho, whether this concept will see the light of production depends very much on the public and customer’s reception, but I think that’s least of Bentley’s worries.
