if you think skateboarding is not fast enough to thrill you or kicking the ground to get the skateboard moving is a complete chore, then perhaps throwing in a motor or two into it might be a good idea. we know, we know, electric-powered skateboards are not new but up till now, they are mostly cumbersome and heavy, and certainly not something that you could lug around like a traditional skateboard. the Boosted Boards is the middle path solution – it stands between having no motor at all and those with hefty motor (or motors) strapped to them. for starter, it weights just 12 lbs or about 5.4 kilograms and is equipped with two brushless motors, juiced by lithium-ion batteries, that offers 2,000 watts of power for a range of 6 miles (9.7 km), a top speed of up to 20 mph (32 km/h) and a maximum grade of 15%. even though it is an electric-powered skateboard that offers speed that your legs can’t, at its heart, it is still a regular longboard backed by Loaded Vanguard, Bear Grizzly 852s, Otang 80A in Heats, and Jehu bearings. control is via a handheld remote that puts throttle and braking control in your hands, wirelessly and the very same remote also sport a battery gauge readout to keep in the know on the battery status. oh did we mention that, despite being a regular longboard size, it has regenerative breaking too? just like the a-fledge electric vehicle. and the best is, if the board runs out of juice, it can still roll on like any other normal longboards, well, perhaps with a little more weight to it but hey, at least it will move. the Boosted Boards can be yours if you make a $1,199 pledge on their Kickstarter page. not exactly cheap by any means but trust us, your legs will thank you.
