if your definition of a sound bar isn’t exactly one that’s shaped like a long, black bar, then we guess the new Bowers & Wilkins Panorama 2 the sound bar for you. aesthetically it looks like it predecessor but under the hood, B&W has packed in some ear-pleasing goodies into it. the Panorama 2 is equipped with newly engineered drive units – nine of them in total with a center-heavy configuration comprising of two 3.5″ subwoofers, two 3″ midrange drivers, and a 1″ aluminum dome tweeter featuring B&W’s Nautilus tube-loaded technology. the rest of the four 3.0″ drivers made up the surround channels with each individual driver, housed in its own enclosure for what B&W described as maintaining “a purity of performance.” providing the system with the kick are six class D amplifiers that power the drive units, giving a combined power output of 175 watts. other key features include built-in digital signal processing technology, four HDMI port – three out and one input, a more intuitive On Screen Display and a new proximity-sensing control panel that goes pitch black when the Panorama 2 is operating but slowly illuminates when the user’s hand gets close. arriving late this month with a hefty price tag of $2,200 a pop. click past the jump for a small gallery of the Panorama 2.
