I think hell may have frozen over in the world of brick-built toys, because LEGO is no longer the only brick-built toy maker producing officially licensed Star Wars sets. You heard that right. China’s fast-growing brick-building toy maker, CaDA, has revealed an officially licensed Star Wars set. Folks, meet the CaDA Original Stormtrooper Buildable Figure (C59091).

Part of the brand’s Creative series, this brick-built Stormtrooper is an ode to the OG design of the iconic character from the original Star Wars trilogy. It is a nod to the original design by Andrew Ainsworth of Shepperton Design Studios, but presented in a Chibi style, with an adorable 3:1 head-to-body ratio.
It may be a caricature of the OG, but the 1976 design that defined the original Stormtrooper has been faithfully recreated here. All the details—the vents, the circuit panels, and whatnot—have been replicated, and best of all, they are all printed parts. Like most, if not all, CaDA sets, you don’t have to deal with decals.
When completed, the 531-piece model measures 20 cm tall and 13.6 cm wide, and it boasts some level of posability, including those adorable tiny digits. Rounding out the feature list is a display base with a cute Stormtrooper plaque.
The CaDA Original Stormtrooper Buildable Figure (C59091) has been launched in China for 129 yuan [CH] (~18 USD). We’re not sure if this set marks the start of a bigger collaboration, but if it is, LEGO might want to keep an eye on its rearview mirror.
