Denim and running don’t usually belong in the same sentence—let alone the same product—but here we are with the 5th generation of DENIMxRUN, the “running denim pants.” If, for some reason beyond our comprehension, you do feel the urge to run in denim, Japanese apparel maker Takeda Legwear Co., Ltd. has you covered.

This series has been around for a while—five generations, in fact. The Wild Dry Denim V Running Pants are part of the “Running Denim Pants” line from the sports brand R×L, developed by Takeda Legwear. For this latest iteration, it retains the DENIMxRUN concept while introducing several improvements, including large power mesh pockets designed to minimize movement of items inside, and a newly standardized short length across all sizes (5 inches) to improve leg mobility.
The new mesh panel includes five compartments—two up front and three in the back—with one zippered front-left pocket for keys, cards, and whatever else you’re lugging. Other features include the signature moisture-wicking WILD DRY fabric, which is ultra-lightweight (95 g/㎡), plus pin mesh in the crotch area for ventilation, breathability, and stretch—while still maintaining modesty.

And yes, the pants still rock that iconic denim look. Achieved through a special sublimation print, it faithfully recreates a realistic denim pattern, right down to the worn-in fade, stitching, and more. At a glance, they look like actual denim shorts, making them suitable for everyday wear too.
So there you have it—running shorts for denim fanatics and a perfect addition to your all-things-denim collection and the unforgettable, oh-so-sexy denim Speedo.
The Wild Dry Denim V Running Pants are available exclusively online at shop.rxl.jp, priced at 13,200 yen (about US$92). Available for both men and women, in denim blue and stone denim colorways.
