Can LEGO Technic Control+ app as used in the new LEGO Technic 42100 Liebherr R 9800 be use to control the real-life 800-ton behemoth? Well, that was what LEGO engineers and prominent LEGO master builder Sariel had come together to find out.
I am not going to lie. Initially, I thought LEGO and Sariel ripped out the controls of the Liebherr R 9800 and replaced them with LEGO Technic Control+ parts. Well, they did not. That would be ridiculous anyways and no way Liebherr would allow that.
Anywho, the team came up with an ingenious solution. They use the parts from the 42100 set, engineered separate systems for different controls of the giant excavator and installed them in the cabin. After that, the team just step back and make the Liebherr R 9800 move with Control+ app.
Imagine that. Using a smartphone app to move the monster of heavy machinery. Keep going to watch the entire proceeding.
