Nintendo Entertainment System, or NES for short, had a fair number of basketball game titles, but even if it did, does it warrant a NES-themed Jordan? Maybe not. But whether or not it does call for a NES-themed treatment on a pair of kicks largely known for its basketball lineage, it does not matter because sneaker customizer Freaker Sneaks have already made some. The last we seen from this talented sneaker customizer is the SNES version, which was undeniably cool – especially to folks who grew up in 80s and 90s playing NES, but this latest one feels different. It is, how do you say? Complete? I don’t know why it feels complete to me.

It could be the inclusion of the two iconic games’ labels, Super Mario Bros and Duck Hunt, one on each tongue? Or it could be the simple detail like the stitching on the laces that says ‘select’ and ’start’? Or it could be the press-able D-pad and the buttons pulled from some random but real NES controller donors? Ok. I admit. The thing that got me here was the labels and also the cartridge-shaped Jordan tag that comes with each pair. Those are what really had me at hello. Well, almost. Almost because this pair of kicks is probably not so much for day-to-day wearing. But if you insist on wearing it, you probably want them to be in dry steppers.

If I can’t wear daily, it means they are not quite the kicks for me. Also, partly because each pair costs a bank-breaking $1,250. Yep. Perhaps, the sticker is why it isn’t for me. Truth hurts. You know how much time I need to spend typing furiously on this keyboard to get that kind of money? So, no. It is not for me. If you are keen, go ahead and touch base with Freaker Sneaks and also, you need to act on it quick cos’ only ten pairs are made available.
