Customizable Crossguard Lightsaber by Le FabShop

By now, we all know two important things about the upcoming Star Wars movie, The Force Awakens. One, it has a non-white Stormtrooper and two, it has a Lightsaber equipped with Lightsaber crossguard. The latter is the one that’s making the round on the Internet and among Star Wars fans with the question: won’t the crossguard cut the user’s hand? If you are still debating over this ‘technical’ issue, why not find it out by building one crossguard Lightsaber and test it out yourself? Obviously, Lightsaber is far from being real; there is no way, in today’s technology, we can contain the pure plasma energy in the form and shape required to form the Lightsaber.

However, you can 3D print and put together a replica by following France-based 3D printing store Le FabShop‘s instruction on Instructables, and DIY a “real working” crossguard Lightsaber which you can put through the paces. To be fair, the teaser trailer’s part on the crossguard Lightsaber did not quite show the hilt’s built and/or design, and so for now, you will have to dispense with the details. As far as the hilt is concern, Le FabShop’s iteration is modular in design, which means you can mix and match the different grips, bases, tops and bottoms, and even ‘beam’ colors to create your own personalized crossguard Lightsaber.

The instruction on how to put together the Customizable Crossguard Lightsaber is on Instructables, but do note that you will need to have access to a 3D printer to get started. Anywho, we shall leave it to you to explore further. Product video after the break.
