Kojima Productions x Anicorn Death Stranding 2 Ring Terminal

How’s your Death Stranding 2 setup going? Got your exoskeleton? The timepiece? Well, if so, you need to complete it by kitting out with the Death Stranding 2 by Kojima Productions × Anicorn – Ring Terminal. That’s right, my fellow fans of Death Stranding 2. It is a replica of the mysterious, in-game, high-tech-looking ring worn by Sam and Fragile.

While I am not entirely clear what this device does in the game, one thing is for sure: this real-world version will not do what it does in the game. The display on the Ring Terminal here is merely a printed visual representation and does not function as an actual electronic display. Then again, it is not entirely a “dumb” ring. It has built-in NFC that allows you to “forge a direct link with the immersive universe of Death Stranding 2.”

So, yeah. Not only do we not know what the ring does in the game, but we also have no clue what it really does in the actual real-world version, except maybe that it is perfect for your next cosplay as Sam, Fragile, or any Drawbridge operative. However, our ignorance of what it really does does not discredit the challenge the team at Anicorn had to overcome to turn it into reality.

As you may have already noticed, the Ring Terminal has an unconventional shape. It has a layered structure that makes it far more complex to recreate than regular rings. To reproduce the intricate in-game design, Anicorn uses electroforming to meticulously deposit metal ions, one layer at a time. Add to that five-axis CNC precision, micro-injection molding, electroplating, and a natural oxidation process to achieve the distinctive coloration seen in the game.

Anyhoo, all told, this tiny wearable collectible consists of no fewer than 30 distinct components. The dedication is real. And while the tech remains a mystery to us, Anicorn managed to recreate the one-size-fits-all design. It features an adjustable structure with an anti-slip gear pattern, allowing it to fit fingers with circumferences ranging from 44.2 to 75 mm (1.74 to 2.94 inches), or ring sizes 3 to 15 in US sizing. The scalable precision could not be more appropriate. I mean, if you are going to issue this device to many people, it makes sense to make it adjustable rather than custom-fit.

Anyhoo, moving on. The ring is constructed from a brass and steel alloy and features luminance on the printed display, complete with a domed glass, to replicate the look of a real screen. If you are interested, the Death Stranding 2 by Kojima Productions × Anicorn – Ring Terminal is available now for US$240 a pop.
