Destroying a LEGO AT-ST MOC by SunPro Bricks

If you’ve played Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, you’ll probably remember Starkiller (aka Galen Marek) and his dramatic finishing move against an AT-ST—slicing it clean in half. We haven’t really seen this move outside of the game—I think—but who cares, because someone has recreated this iconic AT-ST-splitting moment in LEGO.

You could even call the “Destroying a LEGO AT-ST” MOC, as it is called, a kinetic set, since it involves pulling a Technic lift arm to launch a LEGO Jedi minifig (mounted on a transparent pole) from behind a brick-built AT-ST. As the minifig reaches the rear of the AT-ST, the dark grey plates on each of the legs drop outward, splitting the Imperial scout walker dramatically in two. The builder even added yellow and orange bricks along the “cut” to simulate glowing, molten metal from the lightsaber strike. Very, very cool.

Oddly enough, the AT-ST is standing on what looks like a tarmac complete with a dashed line, which, unless Star Wars canon has changed, isn’t exactly a thing in that galaxy far, far away. Anyhoo, off to the side of the “tarmac” platform is a reset wheel. After each epic split, you’ll need to manually reset the whole scene. So, no, it’s not continuous—but still, very, very cool.

This kinetic masterpiece is right up there with the micro-scale LEGO Star Wars trench run kinetic sculpture, if you ask me.
