Sci-fi books and films have opened our eyes to many drool worthy future tech. Sadly, not every one of those fantasy tech becomes a reality. Hologram is one of them. The hologram here we are referring to is real projection of a 3D object in wireframe or similar, not the sticker kind of hologram you in toys, or those projected inside a glass block. Star Trek Automated Repair Station, for example, had one and now, even though consumer hologram isn’t available to you, you can have one in your room, on your bedside table too. And the object that will replicate the hologram projection look is this Disco Star Trek USS Enterprise 3D Deco Lamp.
Made of acrylic and wood, this unique lamp features intricate laser engraved lines that, when light passes through, create a 3D illusions of the USS Enterprise projected from the wooden base below. The image of the USS Enterprise is presented in grid form, which was a popular computer generated model in the 70s and 80s. The lamp isn’t 3D, obviously, but thanks to the engraved lines, it appears three dimensional and with the light permeating ever so lightly across the un-engraved acrylic, the lamp looks exceedingly like you have a hologram projector right on your desk. If that’s not impressive enough, I seriously don’t know what will.
It comes with a remote control that enable you to cycle through seven LED color, adjust the brightness and also switch between four display modes. You can pick up the Disco Star Trek USS Enterprise 3D Deco Lamp at a discounted sticker of $29.90 over at Cool Stuff Emporium. Though we are not sure how long this supposed 40% off will last. If you are a sci-fi geek, or a self-professed Trekkie, you wouldn’t want to miss this.
