If you’re a petrolhead, there are a hundred and one ways to show your passion for automobiles—even when you’re far from your ride or your garage. You can turn a car into a room divider, have an engine espresso machine, or use an exhaust pipe Bluetooth speaker, among many others. But all these aren’t exactly cheap. So, a pen holder that looks like it has been repurposed from a suspension spring seems like an attractive proposition for budget-conscious petrolheads.

Folks, this is the DOIO Shock Absorber Pen Holder TOKE-11—or as Drop calls it, the DOIO Suspension Pen Holder. It is NOT made from an actual spring, but close enough. The main body, i.e., the “spring” part, is made from 10 mm solid carbon steel, and the base is CNC-machined from 6063 aluminum alloy. The base goes through CNC, milling, sandblasting, and anodizing to arrive at what you see here. The result is a strangely cheerful suspension that holds your writing instruments.
It measures 78.5 x 78.5 x 104.4 mm and weighs a hefty 730g. The weight, together with the anti-slip base mat, ensures whatever’s in there ain’t going anywhere.
And in case you didn’t notice, the spring mimics the real thing, complete with tapered ends. Such is the attention to detail.
The DOIO Shock Absorber Pen Holder TOKE-11 is available now from doioshop.com for US$33.69. But if you’re feeling rich, you can pre-order it from Drop.com for a grand sum of 45 bucks. Available in a choice of attractive colors, you’d probably find on real suspension parts. Before you go, you may want to steal a few more looks at this super cool pen holder below.
