Being a rugged smartphone does not mean it has to be void of novelty feature(s). Case-in-point: the new DOOGEE S88 PRO. It has a unique multi-function LED light which DOOGEE described as “Iron Man Eye Design.”
Though so described, I am doubtful it has any official affiliation with Marvel or whatsoever. Anywho… the multi-color “eyes” are standalone LED lights hidden under a black translucent tempered glass that lights up in select colors to indicate incoming calls, texts, and other notifications. Fancy!
Not the most tactical, but hey, DOOGEE did not say the DOOGEE S88 PRO is a tactical device. It is just one hella tough device.
On the oh-so-tough department, it is IP68/IP69K rated, allowing it to survive down to a meter (3.3 feet) deep for 24 hours or up to 2 hours at depth of 1.5 meters (5 feet), and sealed against dust under a mm in size.
It is also built to MIL-STD-810G standard, capable of sustaining to 2 meters (6.6 feet) drop, or 1.5 meters (5 feet) on rough surfaces.
And it can also survive long without outlets – thanks to its whopping 10,000 mAh “Super Battery,” which is good for 7-8 days of use. In addition to supporting 10W wireless charging, it also supports reverse wireless charging, albeit at just 5W. I believe this is not the first time DOOGEE has squeeze a Super Battery into its device.
DOOGEE S88 PRO is powered by MediaTek MTK6771T Helio P70 AI Master featuring octacore processor of 2.0 GHz clock speed, ARM Mali-G72-MP2 700 MHz GPU, and 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage. MicroSD card (T-Flash Card) is in order too, supporting up to 128 GB. Imaging is no slouch too.
The triple-camera main snapper consists Sony sensors (21 MP main + 8 MP ultra wide-angle + 8 MP portrait) while the front is a 16 MP Samsung sensor.
Speaking of the front… it has a 6.3-inch FHD+ (2,340 x 1,080 pixels) teardrop notch display with Corning Gorilla Glass.
Rounding up the package are dual SIM support (nano SIM), side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and the usual bunch of connectivity and sensors.
DOOGEE is marketing the S88 PRO as the survivalist’s phone, packing it with a so-called “Survival Software Pack” that includes compass, sound meter, height measure, “gradicenter”, protractor, plumb bob, and more.
So, if you are an adventurer, this might be the phone you need for your next epic outdoor adventure. And oh wait. The price… it’s just US$249.99.
