biggest news today is probably Android Wear. it is a biggie to the wearable tech community. why? because, up till now, Android-powered smartwatches are using an OS which are not tailored for a tiny display and functionality of a wrist watch, but with the Android Wear, it is specifically designed for wearables and based around voice and contextual information, which simply translates to having information relevant to you at a glance and simple voice command to get stuff done. if you use Google Now extensively on your Android devices, then you will be in a better position in appreciating this aspect of the Android Wear. while it is referred to as a complete new OS, Android Wear is really an extension to Google’s mobile OS and should be a huge boon to future makers of all sort of wearables.

when applied to smartwatch, it lets you do pretty much everything a smartwatch is expected to do including text and email message notifications, receive latest posts and updates from your favorite social apps, chat over your preferred messaging apps and more. the real highlight is of course the voice commands to search for stuff, set alarm and even reply text messages. then again, those features are not the be all end all; the applications are limited to the developers’ imagination, really. so when will you be seeing wearables powered by Android Wear? well, LG has already announced one and so has Motorola. so, it is coming onto the market pretty fast and no, Google, as always, will not be making the hardware. LG and Motorola are just the firsts, and there will be more brands jumping onboard pretty soon. catch a couple of videos below to learn more about Android Wear.
