You know how it is. You are drooling over a luxury timepiece with unusual time-telling functionality, but you know also know that thing will cost you an arm, or a leg and so, you just let it go and be content with dreaming about it. We shan’t dwell into why a luxury timepiece cost that much, but the thing you need to know is, there are alternatives out there, sometimes from the very person who has been designing watches that cost exorbitant amount. The DSWISS M2 Automatic Swiss Watch is one such example. M2 is the third model from Geneva-based watchmaker DSWISS that combines the best of Italian design and Swiss precision to result in a watch comparable to the luxury watch you have been drooling over, but at a significantly lower price.
We wouldn’t say it is totally affordable though, but more on that latter. At a glance, the M2 extrudes a Hublot-ish feel to it, boasting details like polished chamfered bezel, brush finished 316L stainless steel case with polished hexagon crown and quality rubber strap with butterfly clasp. Under the hood, an ETA 2814-1 Swiss automatic movement with 42-hour power reserve completes the clockwork, output through an unique time reading system that you won’t even find in some watches that cost many times more than the M2. Finally, a sapphire crystal with double anti-reflection treatment and 10 ATM (100m or 330 feet) water resistant rounds up the package.
With these features and an aesthetic that looks this good, it is easy to see why DSWISS crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter has received so much attention. The campaign has 12 more days to go, but it has since attracted 300 backers who helped to roll in over 250,000 Swiss Franc in funding. In other words, the watch is a go and a pledge of Fr. 756-812, or around US$780-837, constitutes to a pre-order which will be fulfilled sometime this December.
