There must be a reason why a watch is worn on the wrist. Then again, time (pun not intended) has change and so has technology and how we use a watch. Never mind if you don’t agree because, a Canadian outfit has already conceived an appropriate to modern people’s way of using a watch called ErgonBand aka the very product that will make the words ‘wrist watch’ irrelevant.
ErgonBand wants you to wear the watch on your hand, specifically somewhere on the region of the first dorsal interosseous muscle. ErgonBand is a patent-pending ergonomic leather watch band that supposedly offers the “perfect viewing angle” as oppose to on the wrist like people have done for more than a century now. Does it really work? I don’t know. I can’t be a judge.
From what I can see is, it could be for active lifestyle person. Like for example, a person sprinting will have the watch in its natural line of sight without intentional lifting and turning the wrist. Now that I think of it, it kind of makes sense. Not completely, though. I may look absolutely wacky if I were to wear my TicWatch like such. That’s not mention with a strap across part of the palm, it will no doubt be a hindrance when using the hand.
ErgonBand proposed that the watch band is good for driving too. With the watch on the hand, you will have clear look at the watch without actually moving your hand away from the steering wheel.
I don’t know man. Despite the pitches, I still feel like it is a weird way to wear a timepiece. If you aren’t and even sold by the idea, you may consider picking the ErgonBand ergonomic leather watch band as a pre-order on Kickstarter. Prices range from 179-205 Canadian money (or about US$134-154).
