celebrating BMW driver Marco Wittmann’s success at this season DTM, BMW has announced a special edition BMW M4 coupe, dubbed the BMW M4 DTM Champion Edition. since Wittmann’s DTM car is based on the current M4 coupe, it is only fitting that the Champion Edition is also a M4 and thus, it shares the same specifications as the M4 coupe with power coming from a 3.0-liter BMW M TwinPower Turbo inline six producing 425 horses. though no 500 hp V8 under this homologation’s hood, but it still make the manual sprint from standstill to 60 mph in 4.1 seconds. the Champion Edition will be ultra limited. only 23 units will be built, a number that pays homage to Wittmann’s car number and will only be offered exclusively in Alpine White.
exterior visual features include a matte black hood and boot lid decorated with colorful stripes, black character line race along length of the car body on either sides, M kidney grille with orange surround, an M logo rearwards of the front wheel arches, the number 23 on the doors and the flag along with “WIT”, “DTM Champion 2014” lettering on the rear side windows, 19-inch light alloy wheels, a black front splitter, black side skirt blade, carbon front flaps, carbon mirror caps, rear spoiler and a carbon diffuser insert pulled from the M Performance Parts catalog. the exclusivity continues into the cabin with door sill plates with Wittmann’s autograph (watch out!) and a carbon dash trim, also signed by the 24-year-old champion, above the wordings “DTM Champion 2014”.
seriously, the car has enough details to remind you or anyone else that BMW owns the DTM race this year. so how much is it for such limited production sports car? well, unfortunately, no word as yet and availability is also unknown at this time. but if you a sizable amount of disposal income, you should already be talking to your local dealers about it. perhaps, being their valued customer, they will be able to secure you one. perhaps. some closer views after the break.
