It has been awhile since we are so excited about a mid-range device. First, it was the Nord and now the long-time in the making Google Pixel 4a. The “long-time in the making” also means, it does not have the best of mid-range chip. The Google Pixel 4a may just give OnePlus Nord a run for its money.

Google Pixel 4a is the mid-range Pixel we have come to expect, which means it has a couple of distinguishing features, including a single camera setup and a rear fingerprint sensor. Feels like original Google Pixel all over again, doesn’t it? Except that this one is, like the 3a, a true mid-range device.

Key spec sheet details include a a 5.81-inch “full-screen” FHD+ (2,340 x 1,080 pixels) OLED display with “transmissive hole” (read: hole punch camera) and HDR support, Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 Mobile Platform, Adreno 618 GPU, Titan M Security Module, 6 GB LPDDR4x RAM, 128 GB storage, a 12.2 MP dual-pixel main camera, an 8 MP front-facing hole punch camera, stereo speakers, dual mic setup, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, and a 3,140 mAh battery with 18 W fast-charging support.

With the device, you will be guaranteed a minimum of 3 years of OS and security updates. Such is the perks with a Google device and of course, getting the latest Android OS when it becomes available.

Best of all, the design isn’t too shabby and perhaps even more importantly, it undercuts the Nord by 50 bucks, coming in at US$349. Granted this little guy is not 5G-ready.

Anywho… if you are in the market for a mid-range device, we suggest that you check it out. We heard that, though it may have a single camera, it is pretty mighty.

Oh, wait. If you want 5G, you may want to wait out a bit as Google will be introducing the Pixel 4a (5G) this Fall, along with the Pixel 5, also with 5G. The Pixel 4a (5G) will sell at US$499. So that is something to keep in mind.
