You heard of glamping? It’s luxury camping that combines the great outdoors with high-end comfort and amenities. Well, the HEIMPLANET Mavericks Inflatable Expedition Tent might give you the same impression, at least where luxury pricing is concerned. Because, man, this thing costs as much as a used car, or a month’s rent for a 4,000–6,000-square-foot house in a mid-sized city. And we’re not even exaggerating.

But before you dismiss it as an outrageously expensive camping tent, there’s actually a good reason for that eye-watering price tag. For starters, it isn’t meant for your average weekend getaway. The clue is in the product name. This thing is built for serious expeditions, including those to Antarctica, where astrobiologist Dale Andersen and his team have been putting it through its paces for years.
The 2026 version brings several refinements based on actual field experience, including a tougher, PFAS-free flysheet with improved tear resistance, reinforced seams, better ventilation, and a redesigned roof that helps shed water and reduce snow accumulation.
Then there’s its rather unusual construction. Instead of traditional tent poles, the Mavericks uses HEIMPLANET’s Inflatable Diamond Grid airframe. Just unpack, inflate, and you’re practically home. The entire structure is interconnected, with a multi-chamber safety system that allows individual sections to remain inflated if another develops a leak.

Despite accommodating up to 10 people, it takes only 10 minutes to inflate with a hand pump. As for anyone concerned about its ability to stand up to the forces of nature, the geodesic structure has been tested against winds of up to 180 km/h (112 mph).
Inside, there’s 13.2 m² (142.1 sq. ft.) of floor space and 2 m (6.6 ft.) of standing height. It also features three entrances, three windows, and a removable groundsheet. Damn. That sounds like an apartment, but a movable one for the great wilderness. That said, it isn’t light. The whole thing weighs 25 kg (55.5 lbs.), so backpacking with it isn’t exactly advisable. It’d be literally a back-breaking thing to do. An ATV with a cargo area would be helpful to carry this thing around.
It is available in three colorways, namely Black/Red, Black/White, and the new Black/Dune. The first batch of Dune tents has sold out, with the next batch scheduled to ship in January 2027.
The HEIMPLANET Mavericks is priced at €5,779 (or US$6,935, per HEIMPLANET’s website).
