Buying whisky usually involves choosing a bottle. Tachibana E Liquor Store, however, has decided that customers have enjoyed enough personal agency and have luck in the mix.

Its latest “Whisky Fortune Draw,” officially named the Feverish Big-Return Fortune Slip, is limited to 466 entries. Pay ¥6,980 (about US$44), and one randomly selected bottle arrives at your door with free shipping. Think omikuji, except the divine message contains alcohol.
The single “Super Great Blessing” is a rare Hibiki 21 Years Old Design Bottle Kacho Fugetsu. Four people will receive Hibiki Japanese Harmony, another four get Hibiki Blender’s Choice, and the remaining prizes include Sakurao, Yuza, Ichiro’s Malt, Tsunuki, Yabe, Root, and Koka whiskies.
Every entry gets a bottle, although fortune distributes its blessings with suspicious enthusiasm. Of the 466 bottles, 231 are Koka, and 155 are Root. That gives you a one-in-466 chance of scoring the Hibiki 21 and a considerably stronger chance of becoming acquainted with one of those two.
You can find the Tachibana Hibiki 21 Whisky Fortune Draw on Amazon Japan [JP] as well as Tachibana E Liquor Store [JP].
