Huami Amazfit Stratos3 Smartwatch

Battery life is still a major stumbling block of smartwatches. However, if the new Huami Amazfit Stratos3 delivers as promised, battery woe may be behind us… by a teeny weeny bit. The third-generation Stratos smartwatch was first revealed at IFA 2019 back in September and it is set available in Czech Republic, and it will soon be available in Germany, Italy, Serbia and Spain this month.

Huami Amazfit Stratos3 has two modes: Smart Mode and Ultra Mode. Thanks to the ARM Cortex-M4T low power consumption chip which consumes 59.84 percent less power over smart mode, the latter affords up to 14 days battery life while enabling 80 percent of the smartwatch features, including 11 sports modes, 24-hour heart rate monitoring, notifications and more.

When on full functionality, it promised to have 7-day battery life. Not going to lie. 14 days or 7 days, it does sound a little ludicrous. We shall wait for reviews to come in to pass the judgement. The battery life is not shabby even when the GPS is activated, boasting anything from between 35 and 70 hours. Most of today’s smartwatches with GPS on will last for a day or two, tops.

Speaking of GPS, Amazfit Stratos3 employs a 3-mode/4-satellite GPS positioning chip, supporting GPS+ GLONASS, GPS+ Galileo, GPS+ Beidou, for increased speed and accuracy. In the area of fitness tracking, it has this thing called FIRSTBEAT kinematics algorithms for “professional-level” sports analysis that would aid in skills improvement and injury prevention.

All told, the smartwatch offers 19 sports modes. Another standout feature is the Huami-developed BioTracker PPG sensor for high-precision continuous heart rate tracking, heart rate warning and heart rate interval values. Plus it will provide VO2Max, Exercise Effect, Exercise Load, and Recovery Time Data too.
