Forget about what you know about action camera. The Insta360 ONE R Adaptive Action Camera is unlike anything you have seen. It may appeared to sport the same boxy design typical of an action cam, but that’s also where the similarities end. Insta360 ONE R Adaptive Action Camera is modular.

What you see here is actually an action cam made up of three module, namely, the imaging sensor and lens, the battery and the core module. The latter is where the processor resides and also home to a tiny monitor for framing and reviewing of footage. The core and in most part, the battery remains the constant. Though you could pick up a boosted battery for extended operation.

The imaging sensor and lens module is where the magic happens. As an adaptive action camera, Insta360 ONE R features a unique interchangeable lens design that allows it to be use to shoot 360-degree, standard 4K wide-angle, and 5.3K footage. The latter is an 1-inch sensor co-engineered with famed camera maker, Leica.

Needless to say, the entire setup also benefits from Insta360’s signature FlowState stabilization. Plus, it being an action cam, it is also rugged and IPX8 rated which waterproofed it up to a death of 5 meters (16.4 feet) without the need for a case. Any deeper into the deep blue, you will have to use the Dive Case that will allow it to dive down up to 60 meters (197 feet).
