Insta360, the pioneer in consumer-grade 360-degree cameras, has unveiled its new flagship: the Insta360 X5. And no, this isn’t just the X4 with new paint. The X5 is tougher, sharper, and smarter—basically, the 360 cam that went to boot camp and came back with an 8K badge.

At its heart of the X5 are dual 1/1.28-inch sensors, 144% larger than before, paired with a Triple AI Chip system (one 5 nm AI chip plus two Pro Imaging Chips). That combo delivers 8K30fps 360 video, supersampled from 11K, along with a PureVideo low-light mode that makes your midnight motorcycle ride or neon city walk look properly cinematic. Active HDR gets a bump too, now pushing 5.7K60fps for smoother high-contrast shots.
Durability has gone up a notch—or three. The lenses are made of new scratch-resistant glass, but if you do manage to wreck one, X5 introduces a first-of-its-kind replaceable lens system. It’s also waterproof to 49 ft (15 meters), packs a built-in wind guard with improved audio algorithms, and runs on a 2400 mAh battery good for up to 185 minutes in Endurance Mode. Fast charging gets you from 0 to 80% in 20 minutes—basically a coffee break.
The Insta360 X5 is available now from the Insta360 Store, Amazon, and select retailers, starting at US$549.99.
