After presenting the controversial rebranding, it’s time for Jaguar to follow up with its first post-rebrand vehicle. If you don’t already know, Jaguar is going all-in with electric drives. Yep, no more growling engines for the die-hard petrolheads—it’s all smooth whirs and battery packs moving forward.
Enter the Jaguar Type 00 (pronounced Type Zero Zero, because saying it any other way is just wrong), a sleek, borderline-artsy electric concept that screams, “Look at me,” in two very specific shades: Miami Pink and London Blue.
The Type 00, shown off at Miami Art Week (because where else do you debut a car as much about aesthetics as engineering?), takes Jaguar’s old “Copy Nothing” ethos and gives it a modernist, electric twist. From its absurdly long bonnet and fastback profile to its sweeping roofline perched atop 23-inch alloy wheels, this thing looks like it could moonlight as a Bond villain’s getaway ride. Its flush surfaces and panoramic roof skip the traditional glass tailgate entirely, offering more sculpture and less… windows.
Inside, Jaguar’s design team really leaned into their Exuberant Modernism mantra. The butterfly doors open to reveal an interior that swaps the usual plush car vibe for something that feels more like a curated art installation. Brass trim runs the length of the cabin, travertine stone acts as structural support and handwoven textiles wrap the seats. You’ll also find brass, travertine, and alabaster totems that you can place into a console to change the mood of the car’s lighting, sound, and—get this—even its scent. Fancy? Sure. A bit over the top? Absolutely.
But what about the tech? The Type 00 sits on Jaguar’s new Electric Architecture (JEA), designed to push the limits of EV performance. Jaguar claims a targeted range of 770 km (478 miles) WLTP or 430 miles EPA, with rapid charging adding up to 321 km (200 miles) of range in just 15 minutes. So yes, it’s not just a pretty face; it’s functional too. And while this particular concept won’t hit showrooms, it sets the stage for Jaguar’s electric future, starting with a four-door GT slated for 2025.
As for the price of the Type 00? Well, you can’t buy it—it’s a one-off. But that production GT in 2025? It’ll likely cost you, though Jaguar hasn’t spilled the beans yet. Until then, keep dreaming.
P.S.: Is it just me or Jaguar is giving us The Fifth Element vibes? Except the Type 00 does not fly but I think Jaguar is onto something as far as the future goes.
