Jaguar x Bremont Wrist Watches

Jaguar and British watchmaker Bremont has teamed up to create a series of six unique wrist watches to be offered to buyers of the six new Lightweight E-types to be built by Jaguar Heritage. Bremont is no stranger to Jaguar and vice versa; the watchmaker had, in the past, crafted clocks for concept cars such as the C-X75 and XJ75 Platinum, and it is only logical for Jaguar to look to Bremont when they wanted bespoke timepieces to complement the Lightweight E-type. with this close collaboration, you can expect the timepieces to bear DNA of the E-type, sharing some ‘common design features’.

these includes a black dial based on the Lightweight E-type RPM gauge, chambered hour and minute hands that replicate the instrument’s tachometer needle, watch rotor in alloy-spoked Lightweight steering wheel with real wooden rim on the caseback, and a winding crown engraved with the pattern of the “period-correct Dunlop racing tires to be fitted on the Lightweight E-type.” perhaps the most interesting thing about these wrist watches is the material, well, part of the materials, actually. the aluminum ring found on the timepieces are actually aluminum saved from Lightweight E-type construction, which adds a meaningful connection between the watch and the car.

of course, you won’t be able to tell by looking at the timepiece, but there is a couple of markings that will point to its association with the Lightweight. each watch carries the engine number of the car it is paired to and the chassis number of the matching car is printed at the dial face, at the six o’clock mark. both which we thought are nice touches that further strengthens the association. additionally, these watches also mark the debut of Bremont first proprietary self-winding movement, the BWC/01, which comes with a cool 50-hour power reserve and fitted with the aforementioned ‘steering wheel’ rotor. the Jaguar x Bremont Wrist Watches has a 43mm white gold case and they are matched to Connolly leather straps, which are not surprisingly, also the leather used for the Lightweight E-type upholstery. the watch will be making its public debut, along with the new Lightweight E-type at the Pebble Beach Concours D’Elegance on the August 14, 2014.
