JAS Tensei Honda NSX Restomod
The original Honda NSX has joined the restomod movement. Developed by JAS Motorsport and styled by Pininfarina, the Tensei blends the timeless silhouette of Japan's legendary supercar with modern engineering and handcrafted exclusivity.

The news of someone making an NSX tribute car is always exciting, but alas, it isn’t the NSX that attained cult status. Thankfully, someone is doing something about it. Enter JAS Tensei.

If the name JAS Motorsport sounds familiar, there’s a good reason. The Italian engineering company has been Honda’s official motorsport partner since 1998, building everything from touring cars to the NSX GT3 racer. Now it has turned its attention to the road with its very first supercar. Named Tensei—Japanese for “rebirth”—it is a restomod that pays tribute to what many consider Japan’s greatest supercar.

Penned by Pininfarina, the Tensei stays remarkably faithful to the original NSX. The unmistakable silhouette remains, complete with pop-up headlights, but nearly every surface has been refined. The body is crafted from carbon fiber, with subtle aerodynamic enhancements, LED daytime running lights, and details inspired by the legendary NSX-R. It is instantly recognizable, yet sharper everywhere you look. It is almost like someone increased the resolution of the original NSX, except every extra detail is real.

Underneath the sculpted body is a 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6 producing 420 bhp, driving the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. JAS estimates the car will weigh just 1,400 kg (3,086 lb), staying true to the lightweight, driver-focused philosophy that made the original NSX such a benchmark. Better still, buyers can choose either left- or right-hand drive.

JAS isn’t simply restoring old NSXs, either. Every donor car undergoes a comprehensive transformation that blends modern engineering with the character of the original. The company describes the Tensei as a contemporary interpretation of the Gran Turismo concept that defined the NSX: high performance, perfect balance, everyday usability, and emotional engagement on both road and track.

The JAS Tensei has already made appearances at events including the Monaco Historic Grand Prix, giving clients and guests a closer look at the reborn icon. Production will be highly exclusive, with each example hand-built in Italy. Pricing starts from £770,000, before the donor NSX and VAT. Perhaps money is not the biggest problem here. The problem would be finding a donor car for it.
