The problem with suitcases is obvious: they consumed a lot of space when not in use. There’s a way around this. You can reclaim some of the space it takes by storing stuff in it (the suitcase), or you could look to Jollying Pebble, a suitcase that can be “flattened”.

Jollying Pebble is an IF Design Award 2022 winner. It is designed by Andrea Ponti’s Ponti Design Studio for China luggage maker, Jollying Industrial Co., Ltd. What makes Jollying Pebble special is that it is collapsible.

Mind you though. We are not talking about a suitcase with a wrap-around extension zipper that conceals a panel of fabric. OK. It is something along the line but in the opposite way.

Instead of giving you more space, Jollying Peddle can collapse to about 1/3 of its original thickness which allows it to be stored away with less space. Between the hard front and back shells are custom-made, water and tear-resistant textiles in matching colors for a more cohesive look.

Apparently, the soft sides allow it to be expanded or collapsed with one hand. Though we find no video demonstrating it and I cannot imagine how it works.

Other features include a telescopic pull handle, all-around zipper, TSA combination lock, and ultra-smooth, 360-degree “elastic” wheels that are virtually noiseless. Last checked Jollying Pebble Suitcase is yet to be available in the market. Meanwhile, you can learn more HERE.
