Jordan Peele, one half of Key and Peele and Hollywood’s current most prominent horror director, is back with a new movie. Like Peele’s last work, the latest flick has just one word for the title and that’s NOPE. While for most films, we would have known the plot before they hit the theaters, we have no clue what NOPE is about.
That’s what makes Jordan’s films so intriguing. They are mysterious and contains unexpected plot twist. Though I have to admit. I was not quite impressed with the US. I don’t know, man. I guess Get Out had set the bar a little too high. Anywho, I am looking forward to Peele’s new masterpiece.
TBH, I never felt this excited about a movie since Matt Reeves’ Cloverfield (2008, Paramount Pictures) and J.J. Abrams’ Super 8 (2011, Amblin Entertainment).
The beauty of films like NOPE, Super 8, and Cloverfield, is the anticipation and the mystery surrounding them before watching them. And oh yes, and the speculation of what could be going on.
That said, if you like speculation, you may enjoy the YouTube channel Heavy Spoilers’ trailer breakdown. You know, this guy may be right. But I also agree that the possibility of aliens as heavily hinted in the trailer, maybe throw us off. Damn. Now I am wishing for summer to be here sooner!
