yet another designer chair that tickles my weakness for beautifully designed stuff. the Pod, designed by Benjamin Hubert, is not just any other chair. for starter, it is a large chair without the bulk and its high perimeter covers up to the user’s head, providing a sense of personal space. in a way, seated on the chair provides a break for the users from the hustle and bustle of their daily life. think of it as a room-in-room solution.

beside being a privacy chair, the Pod is totally eco-friendly. instead of the unnecessary wastage associated with upholstered furniture, the minimalist Pod is made of moulded felt created from recycled PET bottles and the shell of the chair is the largest form ever produced utilizing pressed PET felt technology at Nordifa in Sweden. the chair is designed in a knock down fashion to allow for ease of stacking and storage, thus reducing the carbon footprint associated with transportation. the felt is not only aesthetically pleasing but has embody a sound dampening property which no doubt boost its privacy aspect.
other materials used include steam bent ash timber for the wooden structure frame and recycled foam with Kvadrat upholstery for the cushions. the chair measures 1400mm (h) x 900mm (w) and is manufactured by De Vorm. unfortunately, there are no words on its pricing and availability at this point in time.
