KAOS Temple “Skate Church” by Okuda

More often than not, abandoned churches are usually designated as historic buildings, or repurposed into shopping malls, offices and such, but in the case of this godforsaken, once-holy property in Llanera, Asturias, Spain, it was spared of the commercial fate and instead, was transformed into a skatepark, decorated with vibrant geometric-inspired murals as dished out by artist Okuda San Miguel. Running up to the birth of this unique, well, ‘holy’ skatepark, which is known as KAOS Temple “Skate Church”, there was a crowdfunding campaign to realize this wonderful vision with support coming from energy drink maker Red Bull.

The project was spearheaded by Church Brigade whom salvaged and turned this church into one of the coolest skatepark we have seen thus far. To turn any space into a skatepark is pretty straightforward, but to turn one that looks this stunning requires a pretty bold artistic vision and that was Okuda did. Bold and bright are exactly those things we love and to be honest, this place kind of makes us want to pick up the board again. Go ahead and take a few more look, plus a video of Okuda detailing the inspirations behind this wholesome project.
