KFC China is making fans of Mobile Suit Gundam—and to some extent, beef lovers—very excited. To commemorate Gundam’s 45th anniversary, KFC China has partnered with the franchise to offer a special Gundam-themed meal at its 10,000+ restaurants. Yes, I know the 45th anniversary was technically last year, but it’s still within the 45-year window since Mobile Suit Gundam first aired in April. Anyhoo, that doesn’t matter. What does matter is that KFC is offering a Gundam-themed meal featuring KFC’s juicy Wagyu beef burger in two styles. Yes. A beef burger. At KFC. Imagine that.

Now, beef isn’t exactly KFC’s strong suit, but it’s not unheard of. KFC occasionally adds beef burgers as part of limited-time promotions or regional adaptations. But this collaboration isn’t just about the name—each burger’s soft bun is stamped with Gundam branding, so now you can literally chow down on Gundam.
The meal, priced at 45.90 yuan (about US$6.30), includes a burger served in an RX-Gundam-themed burger box, a cup of soda, and—if you dine in—a Gundam food tray liner featuring the two burger styles. But let’s be real. Fans aren’t here for the burger. They’re here for the Q Gundam model kit hidden inside a Gacha egg.
Starting March 1, fans can visit select themed restaurants in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, purchase a three-piece themed meal, and receive a token for the Gacha machine to get a random gilded Q Gundam model kit. Then, starting March 10, the promotion will expand to all KFC locations in China. However, the nationwide release likely won’t involve the Gacha machine. Instead, each Gundam meal will come with a Gacha, but just like the machine, you don’t get to choose the design—it’s completely random.
Oh, and there are five designs in this KFC Gundam Gacha collection—all gilded, of course. It’s not an unlimited run, though. There are 300,000 units available. That sounds like a lot, but considering Gundam’s massive popularity in China, they may sell out faster than you think—especially with collectors hitting up every KFC in sight to complete the set.
