KFC Singapore KFC HuatWear for Chinese New Year

Every Chinese New Year, food establishments – fast food chains, included – in Singapore will dish out CNY specials. KFC Singapore is no exception. But this year is extra special. In addition to releasing a chicken version of the popular festive dried meat called Bak Kwa (transliteration from Hokkien) meal which includes chicken pieces sprinkled with chicken Bak Kwa and a burger featuring chicken Bak Kwa, KFC Singapore is giving away free, wait for it… shorts.

Not just any shorts, of course; it is a Chinese New Year-themed shorts featuring a pattern made up of chicken pieces, chicken burger, prosperity coins, and a cute variant of Colonel Sanders in Chinese God of Fortune getup. The shorts, which are aptly called HuatWear are presented in striking, bright red colorway befitting the festive spirit.

Huat, for those who don’t know, is Hokkien for “get rich” or “fortune”. It is actually two words in Chinese (Fācái) but in most Chinese dialects “fa” becomes slang for “get rich”. Yes. Such is the complexity of Chinese dialects. Apparently, the prints are designed in consultation with Singaporean Fengshui Master Jet Lee (not to be confused with Chinese martial art artist/actor, Jet Li aka The One).

The KFC HuatWear will be given away for free but of course, there is a catch. Folks in Singapore can secure a pair by getting themselves a Q number, purchasing Chicken Bak Kwa meals or bundles (but of course), and then presenting their Q number ticket plus the receipt of their KFC Chicken Bak Kwa meals/bundles purchased at the booth to redeem their very own HuatWear.

It is worth noting KFC HuatWear is only available to claim at select KFCs around the island state. Redemption for this festive shorts will kick off on February 06, 2024, Singapore Time, and it has an edition number of just 888 pieces.

Oh, in case you did not immediately recognize, HuatWear is a pair of unisex boxers. So yeah, it is basically an underwear. So not sure who you are going to show off the prints to 😆
