No. This isn’t Eleanor, the 71’ Ford Mustang Sportsroof, made famous by Nick’s love affair with it in the movie Gone in 60 Seconds (Touchstone Pictures, 2000). This is the newly announced LEGO 10265 Creator Expert Ford Mustang, based on the iconic and very desirable 1967 Ford muscle car. Billed as the a highly-customizable LEGO Ford Mustang, this gorgeous, non-Technic set boasts a pretty impressive 1,471 pieces and features working steering, authentic dark-blue bodywork with white racing stripes, hood scoop, printed Mustang grille badge, GT emblems, a set of era-accurate 5-spoke rims with road-gripping tires and a detailed big block 390 V8 motor.
When built, it measures 34 centimeters (13 inches) long, 14 centimeters (5 inches) wide and 10 centimeters (3 inches) tall. LEGO 10265 Creator Expert Ford Mustang is further customizable too, if so choose too, with a supercharger, rear ducktail spoiler, beefy exhaust pipes, front chin spoiler, and wait for it… a Nitrous oxide tank! Non-working, of course, but it is hella cool, nonetheless. Other noteworthy details include opening doors, removable roof panel, opening hood and trunk, a selection of license plates (pretty sure LYN 274 isn’t one of them), a rear axle that can be lifted (because, muscle car), and a detailed interior complete with classic seats, radio, and a mid-console gearshift.
If you can’t find a decent condition 60s Ford Mustang, or don’t have the money to restormod one, I think the LEGO 10265 Creator Expert Ford Mustang is your best bet in owning a classic and a legend. Man, already, I am drooling all over! Somehow, this set reminds me that maybe, just maybe, LEGO cars looked better without going the Technic route. The LEGO 10265 Creator Expert Ford Mustang will arrive on March 01, 2019 for $149.99. Not entirely pricey, U.S. speaks, but I can’t say the same for the rest of the world that levies tax on ridiculous EU exports.
