Who does not love a brick-built mobile crane? If you do and have been put off by the price, well, we have good news. LEGO has announced a beautiful brick-built mobile crane that will not break your bank.
Joining the ever-growing LEGO City set is the LEGO City Yellow Mobile Construction Crane (60409), a 1,116-piece set that beautifully recreates one of the most iconic construction equipment boasting realistic aesthetic, features, and functions that encourage immersive play for kids age 9 and up.
Obviously, this little big guy is not just for kids. As long as you are willing to drop the money, it is also great for adult collectors. I think grown-ups will never get their hands off this brick-built colossal construction vehicle which boasts a boatload of playable features.
It rolls on a whopping 16 wheels and features functional outriggers and a hinged operator’s cab that can pivot out of the way to allow for counterweights to be added. The set further touts a towering telescopic boom that extends high into the air and rotates through 360° and a dial-operated working hoist for lifting loads.
The set also includes 4 worker minifigures and accessories, including a toy architectural blueprint, wrench, and walkie-talkie. When completed, the crane—with boom and outriggers extended—measures a shelf space-devouring 26.5 in. (68 cm) high, 19 in. (48 cm) long and 9.5 in. (25 cm) wide. Very, very cool. I am totally sold.
While it is not as pricey as made for adult fans of LEGO sets, it is not exactly wallet-friendly either. The LEGO City Yellow Mobile Construction Crane (60409) will sell for US$109.99 when it becomes available on August 01, 2024.
