More good news from LEGO for fans of the Fast and Furious franchise, especially the first film, before everything went ballistic and over-the-top even for comedies. Folks, the first ride undercover cop Brian O’Connor used in the Street Race Gathering in The Fast and the Furious has finally gotten the LEGO Technic treatment.
That makes three of Brian’s rides that have now been immortalized in LEGO. However, it looks like the LEGO Technic Fast & Furious Mitsubishi Eclipse Car (42229) scales up to the Toyota Supra MK4 set, and quite obviously not the Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 set.
Anyhoo, designed for kids aged 14 and up (and us, of course), the 42229 uses 827 LEGO elements to recreate Brian’s first ride from the 2001 The Fast and the Furious movie. The model features the custom paint design, driver modifications, and the two NOS bottles in the trunk, which O’Connor was a little too eager to use, resulting in the engine overheating and busting the floorboard.
Thankfully, this one comes with the floorboard intact, and also, it is not riddled with holes left by Johnny Tran.
The completed model further boasts play features including functional steering, an opening hood, a detailed longitudinally mounted inline-four engine with moving pistons, an opening trunk to reveal the infamous too-much-for-this-ride NOS bottles, opening doors, and a detailed interior.
When completed, it measures over 3.5 inches (9 cm) high, 12 inches (31 cm) long, and 5 inches (13 cm) wide.
The LEGO Technic Fast & Furious Mitsubishi Eclipse Car (42229) is set to arrive on June 1, 2026, for US$64.99. Pre-orders are happening now on LEGO.com if anyone’s down.
