LEGO Icons Captain Jack Sparrow’s Pirate Ship is one of the coolest pirate ships ever immortalized in bricks, but to some fans, it does not quite scream Black Pearl unless it is, well, under attack by Davy Jones’ Kraken. But this being LEGO, you can trust the community to offer a solution.
One such solution is this display base featuring the Kraken by hachiroku24 (a.k.a. hachiroku92, a.k.a. Chema Perez on Instagram). That’s right, the LEGO extraordinaire clearly has something against Jack Sparrow and would love to relive the scene of the charred black pirate ship on the verge of being devoured by Davy Jones’ Kraken, as seen in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.
This is not a simple stand disguised as a diorama build. The base features a Sarlacc pit-like structure, complete with non-uniform teeth, emerging from the sea, which is represented by a circular seascape built. Rising out of the “waters” are massive tentacles, recreated using both tentacle elements and brick-built tentacles that reach up toward the vessel, with some wrapping around it.
The base hides a pair of supports that allow the LEGO 10365 set to be mounted securely and at a dramatic angle, simulating the ship being raised out of the water by the sea creature. Adding to the spectacle are white elements placed on the vessel’s cannons to simulate cannon fire mid-battle.
Rounding out this display-worthy creation is the fact that it turns an already impressive LEGO Icons pirate ship into a full-blown cinematic moment. Unfortunately, the LEGO MOC Kraken Display Base by hachiroku24 is, for now, a MOC you can only admire. Instructions have not been shared yet.
