When Leica introduced the Cine Play 1, I cheekily mentioned that it was almost compact enough to fit in a bag. Well, Leica must have taken that as a challenge because it has now come up with something even smaller. Meet the Leica Cine Compact 1, a mini projector that trims both the footprint and the asking price while still promising the kind of picture quality Leica is famous for.
Small Projector, Big Screen
Measuring just 209 × 226 × 193 mm (8.2 × 8.9 × 7.6 inches), the Cine Compact 1 is noticeably smaller than the Cine Play 1, making it easier to carry from the living room to the backyard—or wherever movie night happens to be. Despite the downsized body, it can still throw a 4K image up to 220 inches with up to 1,700 lumens of brightness.
Inside is a Leica Summicron zoom lens paired with a 0.47-inch DMD chip and Triple RGB laser light source, backed by Leica Image Optimization (LIO) and Dolby Vision. Translation? Sharp pictures, vibrant colours, and enough detail to make you wonder why you ever settled for squinting at a tablet.
Just Point and Watch
The Cine Compact 1 also keeps setup refreshingly painless. A built-in 360-degree rotation system, autofocus, auto zoom, keystone correction, and intelligent screen framing take care of the heavy lifting. It runs the VIDAA operating system with Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime Video built in, while Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Apple AirPlay, Apple HomeKit, HDMI, and USB cover just about every way you might want to connect.
