The prices of Leica Cameras are prohibitive, to say the least. But that changes with the new Leica TL2 kit. It is possibly the most affordable Leica yet, well, if you buy from B&H that is.
I don’t know what’s the story before this super price slash but the Leica TL2 Mirrorless Camera with 18-56mm Lens Kit, which has a list price of US$4,490.95, is now going for just US$1,995.95 on B&H. Just like that, you save yourself a cool US$2,495.
I don’t believe I have seen such a huge price slash ever. Leica Camera US listed the body-only price as US$2,595. So, this offer is indeed a steal. Obviously, this is not the M series but the camera body that is machined from a single block of aluminum is more beautiful than the M range. We love the minimal, clean uninterrupted look. It lets the iconic red Leica logo stands out. There is a black model but it looks like the offer is only for the silver version.
Key features include a 24.2 MP APS-C CMOS sensor, Leica Maestro II image processor, a 3.7-inch 1.3m-dot touchscreen, USB 3.0 port with Type-C interface, a 32 GB internal memory, a UHS-II SD card slot, built-in WiFi connectivity, 1/40000 sec electronic shutter speed, 49-point contrast-detect AF system, 20 fps continuous shooting, 4K UHD video at 30 fps, and FHD video at 60 fps.
As you can see, it is a video-friendly snapper which, to my limited knowledge, is not what most Leica cameras are known and marketed for. The kit is supplied with a Vario-Elmar-T 18-56 ƒ/3.5-5.6 ASPH lens.
We do not know long this offer will last. I mean, surely it is not going at this rock bottom price – Leica Camera speaks, that is – for long right? So if you want one, you better act on it fast.
