we hate to lift your hopes high and to subsequently burst the balloons of hope that this appropriately named survival kit, the Life Is Precious Survival Kit, is not available for purchase. regardless, it would be criminal if we don’t feature this “survival desirable.” even a non-avid camper like myself fancy this for one simple reason: i believe i got to look my best even in the face of danger. but i do have to emphasize that i am a firm believer of emergency preparedness, so this kit kind of works just fine for me. sounds kind of silly, but it is just me. commissioned by Wallpaper magazine and created by Ford Standard for the magazine’s handmade show in Milan during the Salone Del Mobile, this kit is every bit as beautiful and functional as the content within.

the objective was pretty straightforward: to create an object that is both serious (as in functional, i believe) and beautiful, hence the result you see here. the gold canister (presumably water tight) is home to a stitched roll out bag that contains basic survival essentials including the canister cap that doubles as a compass, fishing wire, waterproof matches, whistle, a swiss army knife, and more. it won’t see through months, but it could – if you had it – proves to be a life saver in those needy situation. you know, just to tie things over like baiting a fish or two to address your immediate concern such as treating a growling tummy. but lets not get ahead of ourselves yet cos’ as said, it is not for sale, well, at least not for now. what a bummer, isn’t it?
