Macintosh Studio iPad Dock by Scott Yu-Jan

Remember the dude who transformed a Mac mini into a portable, laptop-like computer to take anywhere? Well, this creative individual has been busy with more innovative projects, and I think his latest creation is going to impress the tech community and Apple enthusiasts alike, again.

Scott Yu-Jan has crafted what he calls the Macintosh-inspired Mac Studio iPad Dock. In essence, he designed a case that fits over the Mac Studio and doubles as a dock for his iPad mini. This setup not only provides a docking solution for the iPad mini but also integrates the Mac Studio into a functional unit on an otherwise crowded desk, serving a dual purpose.

The result is the Macintosh Studio iPad Dock, enabling Scott to use the iPad mini both as a standalone device and as a second display for the Mac Studio.

The case includes a designated spot for the Apple Pencil, a retractable headphone holder, and a drawer at the back for additional items, like an external SSD when connected. Scott also designed and 3D printed a replacement drawer tailored to fit all his old external SSD drives, granting him quick access to past projects by simply connecting the respective drive to the Mac Studio.

As a final homage, Scott 3D printed the case in red, nodding to the iconic iMac G3. God damn it, Scott. Now I need one Macintosh Studio iPad Dock. But the thing is, I will have to buy a Mac Studio to realize this beautiful creation. Ugh. Dive into the build process in the video embedded below.
