the new Mercedes-Benz CLA is a ride that you either love or hate it. in case you are the former, but wanted something a little more ‘special’, there’s the Mercedes-Benz CLA Edition 1 to content with. it is not an AMG model, so do not expect any performance bump over the ‘standard’ variants. instead, you get to choose the model with the engine of your choice and each unit comes with exclusive equipment, most notably, a NEON ART interior that features leather and black microfiber DINAMICA accompanied by contrasting yellow topstitching. on the outside, AMG front and rear aprons, along with black painted multi-spoke AMG light alloy wheels, diamond radiator grille that boast a black fin and chrome inserts, Bi-xenon headlamps and lowered sports suspension, sets it apart from regular CLA. apart from the funky NEON ART interior treatment, the interior also features AMG sill panels, ARTICO man-made leather with striking yellow stitching on the instrument panel and beltlines, aluminum trim elements and finally, a 3-spoke multifunction sports steering wheel in nappa leather with flattened bottom section and perforated grip completes the dynamic appearance. the 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA Edition 1 is available in four models: CLA 180, CLA 200, CLA 250, as well as CLA 220 CDI, with power output that ranges from a humble 122 hp (90kW) for the CLA 180 up to 211 hp (155 kW) for the CLA 250. athletic-wise, the CLA 180 makes a century sprint in 9.3 seconds, while the quickest of the bunch takes just 6.7 seconds (that’s of course, the CLA 250). the Mercedes-Benz CLA Edition 1 will be a limited run model and it will be available for one year after its launch. pricing starts from €35,402.50 and runs up to €44,625 (about US$47,400-US$59,750) in Germany. no word if it will be made available outside of its homeland.
