It all started with a seemingly mundane comment on Xiaomi CEO’s social media. And then it happened. We are talking about the dual-zone washing machine from Xiaomi. Not only did it grow to become a three-zone, but Xiaomi also took this hygiene obsession to the next level with a tiny washing machine for your intimate wear.
And now, it circles back to the three-zone washing and made it bigger. Folks, meet the new Mijia Three-Zone Washing Machine Pro/Dryer rated for 14 kilograms worth of laundry.
Xiaomi’s approach with the Mijia Three-Zone Washing Machine Pro remains the same as its other multi-zone washers: focusing on keeping different types of laundry separate. Instead of tossing baby clothes, underwear, towels, and everyday wear into one drum and hoping for the best, Xiaomi gives each category its own space. There is the main 12-kilogram drum for family laundry, plus two 1-kilogram mini drums dedicated to delicate missions like baby clothes and underwear.
As before, each drum has its own water path to prevent cross-contamination. Xiaomi claims 99.99 percent sterilization and virus removal, plus a 100 percent mite removal rate. It even received an S-grade health washing certification for underwear and baby garments.
The machine uses Xiaomi’s Hyper Dissolution technology, which aims to remove stubborn stains and prevent color bleeding. It is powered by three direct-drive motors with a 10-year warranty and sports impressive wash ratios of 1.3 for the main drum and 1.75 for the mini drums.
As with the water paths, detergent dispensing is separate, too, for a truly customized washing for each drum. The machine features a four-way detergent system that separately dispenses detergent and softener for the main drum, while the two mini drums have their own detergent feeds.
Because this is a Xiaomi product, smart features are mandatory. The machine supports OTA updates, Mi Home app connectivity, Super Xiao Ai voice control, intelligent anti-shake, and wash-dry linkage.
Special programs include a 12-minute quick wash, wool, silk, down jacket, and pet hair removal modes. The mini drums have dedicated cycles for underwear and baby clothes.
It is a dryer, too, and not only for the main drum; the two little drums also have built-in dryer function as well. Drying duties are handled by a 9-kilogram low-temperature dryer in the main drum, while the two mini drums each offer 0.5-kilogram gentle drying.
At 1,170 mm tall, and a footprint of just 639 mm by 600 mm, it is surprisingly compact for something that looks like it is determined to wage war against germs on three fronts at once.
The Mijia Three-Zone Washing Machine Pro Wash/Dry 14kg has been launched in China with an introductory price of 6,499 yuan [CH] (U.P. 6,999 yuan), which works out to be around 962 USD based on today’s going rate.
