SUV stands for Sport Utility Vehicle. You’d think the ‘Sport’ part would involve outdoor adventures and rugged leisure activities, but how many owners actually do those things? Well, MINI would like to put that part of the name to use with the new Countryman Untamed Edition. And yes, there’s a roof tent for those ready to commit to the whole sleeping-outdoors thing. Also yes, the Untamed Edition has returned. So rejoice, adventurers!
Depending on your market, the treatment is available on the gasoline Countryman C and S ALL4, diesel D, and electric E and SE ALL4. So, “Untamed” describes the equipment and attitude, rather than one particular engine.
The changes go beyond mountain badges. A 15 mm suspension lift provides up to 19 mm (0.75 inches) of additional ground clearance, depending on the version and market. It rolls on exclusive 19-inch alloys with available Pirelli all-terrain tires, while revised ABS, stability control, and steering calibration accommodate the changes. ALL4-equipped versions add all-wheel-drive traction.
There is some regional fine print: North American editions get the lift and all-terrain tires as standard. In Europe, the lift is exclusive to electric models, and the tires are optional.
Dark Steel accents, protective graphics, and skid plates complete the exterior. Frozen Nomad Blue introduces MINI’s first production matte paint finish. Inside, Nightshade Blue sports seats, knitted trim, rubber mats, and elastic storage straps continue the outdoor theme.
The accompanying AUTOHOME roof tent and HELINOX camping furniture let you take that theme further—right through bedtime. Roof capacity reaches 75 kg (165 lb) while driving and 300 kg (661 lb) parked; towing capacity reaches 2,000 kg (4,409 lb) with the optional hitch.
MINI also entered a specially prepared example in the 1,500-mile Rebelle Rally. That’s one way to make sure the adventure photographs involve actual adventure.
Production begins in November 2026, with launch in early 2027. In Germany, the MINI Countryman Untamed Edition starts at €42,850 [DE], including the €4,700 Untamed package. You can already configure one online while planning where to get it dirty.
