Nothing can be taken seriously on April 1st. Really. Our inbox is flooded with intriguing products released on this day, but being April 1st, most of these ‘products’ are obviously not real; they are businesses out to prank us in the name of April Fools Day. Though so. We see the beauty some of these April Fools jokes because they are clearly pranks due to the level ridiculousness in them and yet, they are made so ‘convincingly’, often complete with product images, that you have to give it to the businesses for going this far to prank the world.
The BMW-owned British marque, MINI, is one such businesses. It has cooked up an accessories package that will turn your MINI Convertible into mobile food kitchen. Aptly called MINI John Cooker Works Package, this super accessory turn the entire open top into a cook preparation top made out of solid oak and claims to include an induction cooker with integrated fume hood (though no shown in the ‘product images’) and the package even includes turning the trunk into a cooling storage area.
It also has out-of-this-world tech like “high-voltage Natural Food Nanotechnology battery” that is recharged by the vehicle’s brake energy regeneration system (which we all know a standard MINI does not have). And then there’s the food waste management where this accessory can turn food water into usable battery power and no, it ain’t no Mr. Fusion. The accessories will allow you to prepare both hot and col dishes and in the event of bad weather, the convertible roof can be put up in just 18 seconds without removing the food surface.
Along with all the bells and whistles to turn your MINI into a mobile street vendor, it also has a price tag to it too and in this instance, it will “run you back at” $1,950. I won’t be surprised if someone already called their local dealers about this “awesome accessory” and I also imagine, the number of times they have to say that it is in fact an April Fools’ Day prank.
Good one, MINI. Good one.
