In most movies, villains appear on screen long enough for us to remember them. But I don’t think that applies to Gozer, a.k.a. Gozer the Destructor or Gozer the Gozerian, the ancient interdimensional entity and the main antagonist of the original 1984 Ghostbusters film.
However, her power and threat to the world (or maybe just New York City) will be remembered once again even though her appearance as an androgynous, gaunt woman with a flat-top black hairstyle and translucent boils lasted less than two minutes, thanks to the Monster High Skullector Ghostbusters Gozer Doll.
The ultimate evil has been immortalized as, of all things, a doll, and while it bears the hallmarks of a Monster High Skullector release, the original look of Gozer—before she became a skyscraper-sized marshmallow man—is unmistakable.
Released in celebration of Ghostbusters Day (June 08), the doll pays homage to the central villain of the iconic sci-fi/horror flick. She is garbed in a soft white lace bodysuit with a 3D bubble texture throughout, just as seen in the movie, and comes with powerful purple lightning blasts to zap those pesky Ghostbusters into oblivion.
And how can we mention her electrifying powers without mentioning her long pearl nails? Yup, she has those, too.
The details do not end there. She wears a pair of bubble shoes with Stay Puft and Gozer’s Temple Easter egg heels. The head sculpt replicates her appearance in the film too, right down to the pair of menacing red eyes and skin tone.
She is accompanied by her two trusty Terror Dogs—mini Zuul and Vinz Clortho. The doll stands 10.5 inches tall and boasts 11 points of articulation.
Rounding out the package is premium display packaging depicting Gozer standing on the Temple steps, plus a Certificate of Authenticity to prove that it is the real deal from Mattel.
As with the rest of the Monster High dolls, she does not stand very well on her own—or probably not at all. So a stand is included to make sure she stands properly, allowing you to pull off some poses.
The Monster High Skullector Ghostbusters Gozer Doll launched on June 08 for US$70. It looks like we are a little late on this one. The pre-order appears to be closed. Oops. Our bad.
