Motorola moto g stylus and moto g power

Not many phones in the market come standard with a stylus and as such, a phone with a stylus almost always indicate premium price tag. Not if Motorola can help it. The American handset maker is dishing out two budget smartphones to celebrate the brand’s 100 million moto g smartphones sold.

The two handsets are moto g stylus and moto g power. The former comes with a stylus while the latter touts itself for long battery life. Clearly, it was the moto g stylus is the model that piqued our interest.

Motorola moto g stylus

Rocking a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 Mobile Processor, along with 4 GB RAM and 128 GB built-in storage, the moto g stylus features 6.4-inch Max Vision FHD+ (2,300 x 1,080) IPS display in 19.17:9 aspect ratio. The display has a hole punch on its top right corner that houses a 16 MP f2.0 1μm camera.

Around the back, it gets a quad-camera setup consisting of a 48 MP main snapper with Quad Pixel technology, a 2 MP Macro Vision camera, a 16 MP ultra wide-angle “Action Cam,” also with Quad Pixel technology, and a Time of Flight sensor.

Other key details include expandable storage up to 512 GB (via microSD card), rear fingerprint sensor, 4K UHD videoing, macro videoing, dual stereo speakers tuned by Dolby, Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band wireless a/b/g/n/ac, the usual suspect of sensors, USB 2.0 Type-C port, 3.5 mm headphone jack, a “water repellent” design in a 6,000 series aluminum body, and a 4,000 mAh battery that supports 10 W rapid charging.

Motorola moto g power

Moto g power, as the name implies, is all about long battery life. In this case, it boasts a beefy 5,000 mAh battery that could last up to 3 days.

It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 Mobile Processor with 4 GB of RAM and a modest 64 GB built-in storage – expandable up to 512 GB via microSD card. Usual bunch of sensors apply, along with a rear fingerprint sensor.

It has the same display and construction as the moto g stylus too. There’s also a hole punch camera packing a 16 MP sensor and a tri-camera setup (16 MP main + 2 MP macro + 8 MP ultra wide-angle) as its main shooter.

Save for the cameras and the battery, the device is pretty much identical to the stylus model. Like, they are practically the same in all other aspect, right down to the dual stereo speakers tuned by Dolby.

Motorola moto g stylus and moto g power Canada and the U.S. only devices. They will be available starting this Spring, priced at $299.99 and $249.99 for the moto g stylus and moto g power, respectively.

Expect to find, in stateside, at Best Buy, B&H, Walmart and Amazon.com. Moto g stylus will subsequently be available at Verizon, Metro by T-Mobile and Republic Wireless while the moto g power will be available at Verizon, U.S. Cellular, Consumer Cellular, Republic Wireless and Xfinity Mobile.
