There have been many werewolf films, but nothing set the tone as dark and at the same time, funny, as the 1981 An American Werewolf in London. Actually, it wasn’t quite funny for a kid who watched it in the 80s. I was scared shitless as a child (that and of course, 1985’s Fright Night). That’s why film rating is so important, people.

Childhood traumatization aside, An American Werewolf in London is perhaps one of the most iconic werewolf flicks of our time. For those who aren’t traumatized by it, it is a memory worthy of keeping which you can do so with the NECA Toys An American Werewolf in London Toy.

The toy is, of course, based on David Kessel after he was turned into a werewolf while wandering off the roads in Yorkshire. From the images, the figure looks exactly as my traumatized childhood memories remember it.

The werewolf figure, which measures 11 inches, boasts over 30 points of articulation and comes with two head sculpts: a standard portrait and a bloody mouth variety.

You would probably want to keep it “caged” in its packaging not because it is a “dangerous” creature, but because it does come with a collector-friendly window box with awesome box art and an opening flap for displaying it without tearing it out of the package.

The NECA Toys An American Werewolf in London Toy will arrive in November 2021. Meanwhile, avid collectors can secure a copy by pre-ordering it from retailers like the Big Bad Toy Store and Entertainment Earth for around US$34.99-US$37.99. Unfortunately, a bloodied Jack isn’t part of the set. It would be nice if it had that included.
